Oregonean Teen Injured in ATV Accident

A Coos Bay teenager was life-flighted to a Portland hospital Saturday after sustaining serious injuries in an all-terrain-vehicle accident.According to a Coos County Sheriff’s Office press release, at approximately 1 p.m., deputies and personnel from the Hauser Rural Fire Protection District responded to a report of an injury ATV accident in the Oregon Dunes near Waterplant Hill. There, they found 17-year-old Jordan Waletich, of Coos Bay, who had dropped 25 to 30 feet from the top of a dune while operating his ATV. He had flipped over the handlebars and the vehicle landed on top of him. Jordan was transported to Bay Area Hospital and then life-flighted to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland with serious injuries. He was listed in fair condition this morning, a hospital spokeswoman said.
